Saint Louis, Missouri
HKW worked with Crossroads to create a revised Master Plan that could be implemented in two phases. The first phase was a new Science Laboratory and Library Addition, along with a renovation of 17,000 square feet of existing space. HKW was the Design Architect for this first phase, which achieved a LEED Platinum rating, the first Saint Louis area school to be certified.
The Addition is oriented East-West to maximize energy-conscious exposure to the North and South. The outdoor space surrounding the addition will contain a rain garden that will collect and treat runoff storm water from the new addition, as well as an area devoted to native vegetation. Both areas will serve as educational spaces to further understanding of sustainable practices.
HKW supported Crossroads during its fund-raising effort by producing all graphic presentation information as well as attending numerous fund-raising dinners and events.
